2020 ENTRIES

THE 2020 SOMMELIERS SELECTION COMPETITION

HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL 2021...

1. THANK YOU FOR ENTERING


2.  WINES 

  • All wines must be market ready (if labels are not just ready please mark clearly on a white sticker on the bottle)

  • All wines must be final bottled product

  • No tank or barrel samples will be accepted

  • A minimum of 300 bottles x 750ml must be available on site on day of results

  • Minimum quantity not applicable to Cellar Selection

  • We welcome vintage diversity in all categories

  • We reserve the right to move wine into a more suitable category if deemed appropriate.


 3. ENTRY FEE:

  • All invoices will be sent before judging.

    • POP must be received before 21st September


4. SAMPLES

  • 4 x 750 ml bottles of each wine

  • 3 x 375 ml of Stickies and Fortified

  • 6 x bottles of Beer

  • 2 x bottles of Spirits


5. DELIVERIES

  • Wines to be delivered Monday 21 September 2020: 10h00 – 15h00 ONLY

    • Wines to be delivered to:
      DNA Events
      L’Ormarins EstateR45Franschhoek 

  • Please deliver via the Motor Museum entrance. 

  • Each case must be clearly marked for The Sommeliers Selection

  • All wines must be packed and sealed into a box with the category clearly marked on the box.

  • We have attached box labels that you can use to mark entries

  • We begin judging on Tuesday 21 September at 8am so all wines MUST be delivered the Monday

  • If you have any issues with the delivery date, we can organise earlier deliveries to my offices, but space is limited.


6. LISTED WINES

50% discount on the winning wines fee:
This year we will give 50% discount to the fee from each winning winery - we will be working as follows: R1750 & 6 bottles of wines - this allows for us to carry on with online competitions, social media and promotions with Wine of the Month club and other online retailers.
It will also include 4000 stickers or 2000 stickers and 2000 neck-tags
We have have built relationships with online wine retailers and are excited to punt our winning wines online - which after all, is the new normal….


7. AWARDS, THE PUBLIC & TRADE TASTINGS:

We will host an awards ceremony and then will offer shows and tutored tasting which will be optional for winning wineries.
The public and trade tastings will hopefully take place early next year when gatherings are once again opened up and restaurants and bars are up and running.

8. EXPOSURE & WINNING PERKS

  • 3 or more social media campaigns specifically featuring your listed wines

  • Wine List sent to our extensive restaurant and trade database.

  • Wines to be shown at 3 Regional trade & public shows (if permitted)

  • A Selection of Listed Wines to be listed at Roca Restaurant – Franschhoek

  • A Selection of Listed Bubbles & Rosé and Whites to be listed at Café Marilyn- Franschhoek

  • A Selection of Listed wines to be listed at Café Roca – Franschhoek

  • 15% off all Stand fees for the following festivals:

    • The Chocolate Festival

    • Beer, Bubbly & Wine

    • The Johannesburg Cap Classique & Champagne Festival

    • The Durban Cap Classique & Champagne festival

    • The Namibian Cap Classique & Champagne Festival 

    • Any other festivals owned by DNA Events. 

9. DISQUALIFICATION RULE

  • All wines received must adhere to the WSB certification

  • Any wines not adhering to the terms & conditions will be automatically disqualified

  • The Judge’s decision is final
